The Herepath Half is a trail race, organised by Taunton’s Running Forever Running Club. The 2025 event was held on Sunday 19 October 2025 at 10:30am; 2026 date TBC.
The route generally follows the Staple Fitzpaine Herepath Trail in the Blackdown Hills and is approximately 13.7 miles long. The trail reaches the highest point in the Blackdowns with fabulous views.
Herepaths were originally important trade and communication routes between settlements during the ninth century – they are often referred to as people’s paths.
The race is run in conjunction with Thurlbear Primary School, and the entry fee includes a donation to the school PTA. The 2025 race raised £1,000 for Thurlbear Primary School PTA, and around £800 for Dorset and Somerset Air Ambulance.
The race forms part of the Somerset Series, a series of mostly club-organised races across the county.
