About Us

Running Forever Running Club was started in November 2004 by Simon Reach, then owner of Taunton’s Running Forever running shop. The initial aim was to take a group of novice runners and train them to run the Taunton Half Marathon the following April. The session was a huge success and the loose collection of runners continued to meet after the half and eventually, a decision was made to formalise the club – and so Running Forever Running Club was born!

The club meets four times a week on Wednesday evenings (6:30 pm) and Sunday mornings (variable times) at various locations around Taunton, on Monday evenings (6:30 pm – members only) at the running track at Castle School (£2 charge per session applies) and on Tuesday evenings at various trail locations. Currently all sessions are available to members only. We have a formalised structure of groups to cater for different abilities and each group is led by one or more experienced runners. There is also a dedicated trail running group which meets at various locations on Sunday. For details please see the club Facebook pages. There is a dedicated members facebook group which provides up to date information about club activities. Details will be sent with your new member’s pack.

We also organise regular social evenings, both officially and unofficially. Look at the News and Events section for what is going on for other evenings out organised by club members. The club also organises two races; the Humdinger and Hurtle, which takes place in the picturesque Quantock Hills in February, and the Herepath Half, a trail race in the Blackdown Hills in October.
