Beginners Group starts on Wednesday

Our next Beginners Group starts this Wednesday!

Who’s it for? Complete beginner runners, and returning or existing runners who are aiming to run 5k.

How long does the group last? 8 weeks, with 1 session each week.

Who leads the group? The group is lead by a qualified running coach (Ola), with support from other club group leaders.

Why should I join the group? As well as getting you running, we’ll help with warm ups, cool downs, and other useful running tips. You’ll also be part of our friendly community, and have the chance to move on to our other groups once the 8 weeks are up.

What do I need to do to sign up? Register for the sessions on RunTogether, and then join our club for the year (£10). Details at https://runningforever.club/beginners/

What if I have other questions? Email enquiries@runningforever.club

Club championship

The Somerset Series races are back for 2022 and so is the RFRC Club Championship! The rules are the same as previous years: complete at least 6 of the possible 16 races shown on the Club Championship page (linked in this post) to receive an overall age-graded score. The person who has the highest average score across their best 6 races will secure the glory of being awarded the coveted RFRC Club Championship Shield for the year. Link: https://runningforever.club/club-championship/

The majority of the races are part of the Somerset Series, with the two RFRC races removed (to ensure we get enough marshals!), and replaced by the two main Taunton events (Half/Marathon, and 10k).If you want to get off to a quick start, get yourself signed up for the Chard Flyer on 1st January.Good luck!Somerset Series link: http://www.somersetseries.com/ourraces (Please note whether the Herepath will go ahead is still TBC)

Race entry discounts

When entering a race which offers a £2 discount for ‘affiliated’ runners it’s always worth checking what licence or permit it is using. If it has a TRA or ARC permit then any club member should be eligible by virtue of the fact that RFRC is affiliated to both ARC and EA. However if it has a UKA (RunBritain) licence then you can only claim the discount if you are an EA registered (competitive) member of the club. Most big city races are licenced by UKA.

Club AGM

The Running Forever Running Club AGM will be held at the Taunton Vale Sports Club in Gipsy Lane on Friday 12th April. The bar will open at 7.00pm and we will start the meeting at 7.30. This will be preceded by a presentation from our 2019 charity, ARC. This is a members only event.

Once the business of the AGM is over there will be a raffle in aid of the charity and a quiz (with a prize for the winning team). The bar will remain open throughout.
